Marina di Modica

MARINA DI MODICA – A SMALL SEASIDE RESORT IN SOUTHERN SICILY

Marina di Modica  is located directly on the sea, between Sampieri and Pozzallo, at the southern tip of Sicily. The golden sandy beach of the resort, forms a large bay and is surrounded by numerous dunes. Marina di Modica offers the ideal relaxing holiday and bathing fun for all age groups.

However, in the months of July and August, when Italians go on holiday, the otherwise rather quiet seaside resort comes alive. Then sports activities on the sandy beach, market stalls on the beach promenade, live bands and folklore in the “Piazzetta” as well as numerous bars and discos provide variety.

A beautiful seafront promenade starts from the main square, where traders disperse every Sunday in the off-season and every day in the main months selling jewellery, clothes, bags and toys. Farmers occasionally sell fresh cheese, fruit and vegetables there from mid-June to mid-September. The market takes place once a week.

Restaurants, bars, gelaterias, supermarkets and much more can be found either in the village or directly on the beach. Anyone who loves fresh fish or would like to go shopping can reach all of this in just a few minutes’ drive from Marina di Modica.

Marina di Modica is certainly one of the few spots on the Sicilian island that has not yet been overrun by tourism. Here, as in the whole region of Ragusa, you can get to know real Sicilian life!
